Provider Bush Bean – The Most Dependable, Early-Producing Green Bean for Every Garden

True to its name, the Provider Bush Bean is the variety you can count on to deliver a massive harvest, even in less-than-ideal conditions. It is widely considered the most reliable green bean because it germinates well in cooler soils and stands up to various stresses better than almost any other variety. At The Seed Guy, we always recommend Provider to gardeners who want an early start. Any bean that can go from seed to table in under 50 days while standing up to the heat is a gardener's dream, and Provider manages to do that while also being one of the first varieties you can get in the ground.

The pods are 5 to 6 inches long, perfectly straight, and remarkably stringless. They have a classic, rich bean flavor and a crisp texture that holds up beautifully during canning or freezing. Because the plants are compact and sturdy, they require no support, making them a "plant it and forget it" favorite for busy homesteaders. If you want a "sure thing" for your garden this year, the Provider is the bean that will not let you down.

Provider Bush Bean Planting Instructions:

1. Timing: While most beans require very warm soil, Provider is famous for its ability to germinate in cooler ground. You can plant in full sun as soon as the danger of frost has passed.

2. Sowing: Sow seeds 1 inch deep and space them 3-4 inches apart. No trellis or staking is required for these upright bush plants.

3. Care: Maintain consistent moisture, particularly when the plants begin to flower. Mulching around the base of the plants will help regulate soil temperature and moisture.

4. Harvesting: Harvest the pods when they are 5-6 inches long. Provider produces a heavy crop all at once, so be ready to pick! Frequent harvesting will encourage the plant to continue producing.

5. Pests & Disease: Watch for Bean Beetles and leafhoppers. Provider is naturally resistant to many common bean diseases, but always ensure proper spacing for airflow to keep the foliage dry and healthy.

Botanical Name: Phaseolus vulgaris
