(Non-GMO, Heirloom)
Spring Rapini - Broccoli (often called Broccoli Raab) is a fantastic variety for gardeners who want that sophisticated, slightly peppery Italian flavor. It’s a very different growing experience than the Calabrese because it’s grown specifically for its tender leaves and small, tasty buds. At The Seed Guy, we love this variety because it is incredibly fast-growing, often reaching the table in just a few short weeks. It offers a unique, slightly nutty and peppery "kick" that transforms any pasta dish or sauté.
This heirloom is a nutritional powerhouse, loaded with vitamins and antioxidants. Any vegetable that can go from seed to table while providing both a stunning visual and incredible flavor is a gardener's dream, and Spring Rapini fits that description perfectly with its vibrant green foliage and rapid growth cycle. Because it thrives in the cool temperatures of early spring and late autumn, it is the perfect crop to bookend your gardening season.

Spring Rapini Broccoli Planting Instructions:
1. Timing: Rapini prefers cool weather. Plant in full sun to partial shade in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked, or sow in late summer for a fall crop.
2. Sowing: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep directly into the garden. Space seeds about 2 inches apart and thin to 4-6 inches once they are established.
3. Care: Keep the soil consistently moist. Because Rapini grows so quickly, it needs steady water to prevent the stems from becoming tough or the plant from "bolting" (going to seed) too early in the heat.
4. Harvesting: Harvest the entire plant or individual stems when they reach 10-12 inches tall, just as the small flower buds begin to appear but before they open into yellow flowers.
5. Pests & Disease: Similar to other brassicas, watch for cabbage worms. Hand-picking or using lightweight row covers can keep your greens pristine and hole-free.
