(Non-GMO, Heirloom)
Golden Acre Cabbage is an absolute staple for home gardeners because it is so incredibly reliable and fast. Since it produces smaller, 3-pound heads, itβs the perfect "family-sized" cabbage that fits easily in the refrigerator. At The Seed Guy, we know our customers love Golden Acre because its compact size allows for closer planting, making it the perfect solution for small backyard gardens or raised beds where every inch of space counts. This heirloom variety has been a "crowd favorite" for generations because it produces uniform, round, 5-to-6-inch heads much faster than most other varieties.
The leaves are remarkably tender and sweet, making this the go-to cabbage for fresh summer coleslaws, stir-frys, and salads. Any vegetable that can go from seed to table while providing both a stunning visual and incredible flavor is a gardener's dream, and Golden Acre is a champion of efficiency. It is also highly resistant to Yellows (Fusarium wilt), ensuring a healthy and productive crop even in challenging soil conditions. Because it matures so early, it is the ideal variety to kick off your cabbage harvest each season.

Golden Acre - Cabbage Planting Instructions:
1. Timing: Golden Acre is a cool-season crop. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last spring frost, or sow in mid-summer for a crisp fall harvest.
2. Sowing: Sow seeds 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep. If starting indoors, transplant to the garden once the seedlings have at least 3 true leaves and the soil is workable.
3. Care: Cabbage needs plenty of water and rich soil. Apply a layer of mulch around the plants to keep the soil cool and moist, which helps prevent the heads from splitting as they mature.
4. Harvesting: Harvest the heads as soon as they feel firm and solid to the touch. Because Golden Acre is a smaller variety, harvesting at the 5-to-6-inch mark ensures the best texture and flavor.
5. Pests & Disease: Use row covers to protect against cabbage moths and loopers. Its natural resistance to Yellows makes it a very "user-friendly" heirloom for beginners.
