The highest quality Florence Fennel seeds allow you to bring a touch of Italian elegance to your backyard garden. When it comes to flavor profiles, Fennel is the "Sweet Sophisticate." This heirloom is famous for its crisp, white bulbs and feathery fronds that deliver a delicate anise or licorice "Zing" to every dish. At The Seed Guy, we treat every packet like it’s going into our own personal garden, providing the high-energy vitality you need to turn a simple patch of dirt into a thriving, nutrient-dense sanctuary of crisp, buttery bulbs and healing fronds.
In the garden, Florence Fennel is a "Culinary Artist." This variety is the premier choice for anyone who wants to "get your gourmet on"—providing bulbs that are world-class for their buttery texture when sautéed. Just visualize thin slices of fresh fennel and orange in a summer salad; that is the flavor of a true garden masterpiece. It is a fantastic medicinal herb widely known for its ability to reduce bloating and support healthy digestion.

Florence Fennel Planting Instructions:
1. When to Plant: Direct sow in late spring after the danger of frost has passed. It also loves a fall harvest!
2. Preparation: Prefers full sun and rich, moist, well-drained soil. Give it plenty of room to develop those beautiful bulbs.
3. Sowing: Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep. Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
4. Care: As the bulb begins to swell at the base of the stem, "hill" some soil around it to keep it white and tender (this is called blanching).
5. Pests and Diseases: Generally very hardy. Harvest when the bulbs reach the size of a tennis ball for the best flavor and "Zing!"
