Amaranth Planting Instructions:

1. When to Plant: Amaranth is a sun-worshipper! Wait until the soil is warm and all danger of frost has passed in late spring.

2. Preparation: Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. This variety is incredibly hardy and can handle heat and poor soil better than most greens, but it loves a bit of compost to reach its full height.

3. Sowing: These tiny seeds need to be sown shallowly, about 1/8 inch deep. You can "broadcast" them and lightly rake them in, or plant in rows 10-12 inches apart.

4. Care: Keep the soil moist until they sprout. Once established, they are very drought-tolerant. If you want the most tender "medicinal" leaves, harvest when the plant is 12-15 inches tall.

5. Pests and Diseases: Generally very resilient. If growing for the "Grain" harvest, allow the flower heads to turn brown and dry on the stalk before cutting and shaking the seeds into a bucket.
