Vegetable garden yield is based on numerous factors, including the types of vegetables grown, the soil quality, climate conditions, and the level of care provided. Typically, a well-maintained vegetable garden can produce anywhere from 1 to 2 pounds of vegetables per square foot during a growing season. Below, we've provided a few examples of yield for three varieties.

Tomatoes: Can yield 8 to 10 pounds per plant.

Bell Peppers: Usually produce about 5 to 10 peppers per plant, translating to roughly 2-5 pounds.

Lettuce: May yield about 1 to 2 pounds per square foot.

Consider adding companion planting to your garden layout to help reduce garden pests naturally. Maintain soil health by annually rotating your crops which will also maximize yield. Proper watering, fertilization, and pest management can significantly enhance productivity. If you'd like more tips on increasing garden yield, check out the handy chart below!
